Let’s Talk: Lowering Expectations (Not to be Confused with Lowering Standards)

Hello Dear Readers!

I hope all is well on your end and you’re experiencing lots of grateful moments. I miss chatting with all of you and I’m glad to share my post.

For today’s blog post, I want to discuss the importance of lowering our expectations, which shouldn’t be confused with lower our standards. Expectations relate to expectancy of beliefs for the future. Standards relate to a level of quality and it is measurable. So those are two different words, which often gets confused. Many people believe that lowering expectations is the same as lower standards, and it is absolutely NOT the same.

There is great freedom in lowering expectations, which is something that I’m learning to do. When you struggle to let go of control, the ability to low expectations can be quite difficult. However, the awareness of the importance of lowering expectations will create healthy relationships and alleviate stress personally and with other individuals. Also, keep in mind that lowering expectations is not the same as completely letting go of expectations but it is a great way to focus on self-love and the love for others.

In the video above, I mentioned that I’m participating in an app called Lantern which has a life coach along with tools to help refocus thoughts. Currently, I’m working on lowering my expectations and letting go of anxiety. You can find out about Lantern by visiting www.golantern.com start a seven day free trial and then $19.99 a month after trial.

Don’t let expectations from honestly society ruin your life and ruin your relationships. Honor the love in your life and it will honor you.

Feel free to leave me a comment below. Until next time…

Much gratitude and love,
