Our last blog discussion touched on the importance of healing wounds through self-love. Interestingly, one way to heal our wounds and apply self-love is through letting go of resistance, which is a blockage that prevents us from moving forward in life through grace and mindfulness. Through life’s challenges, we tend to become resistant, and it is usually resistant to change. We fail to realize that the resistance is also fear of the worst happening, fear of leaving our comfort zone, and fear of perhaps not feeling safe. We tend to see change as bad. However, change is an opportunity to grow and to experience spiritual maturity. It allows us to transcend into our best.
For quite some time, I have struggled with the fear of resistance to change. I was upset that life did not seem to go my way or unfold in accordance to my expectations. When a daunting challenge arrived, I thought that it would ruin my life forever and that this change could never amount to any goodness. I have seen change as the end of happiness and a huge setback. I have been conditioned to look at what is and not fathom the possibility that perhaps the Universe wanted me to become my best self through change. However, for a very long time, I have resisted the ability to become flexible to change and took everything so personal. Eventually, I realized that I had to step away from my ego’s mindset and accept the challenge from the universe – the universe’s invitation to self-evolution and spiritual awakening. This change in perception really allowed me to respond out of love and compassion; the change allowed me to let go of resistance and walk to the flow of life.
Why Do We Resist Change?
The basic component of resistance is the desire to control every aspect of life. Eventually, we realize that we cannot control the everything, but we can control how we respond, and there is a serious power in personal response. With the power of response, we are able to reshape our perspective on the situation through the understanding that the Universe is always working for us. “Things do not happen to us; it happens for us.” Alan Cohen, the author of Enough Already: The Power of Radical Contentment, amazingly states that what’s in the way is the way. We have to go through challenges to get to where we want to be. Although we are experiencing changes, we are still safe, and all is well through the trust in the Universe. When we are aligned with our inner being, we are always safe, we are always worthy, and we are always loved. The Universe is always supporting us through every moment in life. We are not in danger – we are safe and protected. Therefore, it is important to let go of resistance and walk to the flow of our rhythmic life.
Walk to the Flow of Life
After experiencing and releasing resistance, I have discovered helpful ways to let go and just go with the flow simply. As a result, I felt happier, grounded, and centered with my inner being. I was able to see the beauty of just seeing the unfolding of life. So, here are a few suggestions to help you walk to the flow of life:
Accept Where You Are Right Now
Sometimes, we just have to acknowledge that we are where we are right now and that the Universe has us in a specific position for a reason. We may not understand the reason right now, but in due time, we will understand. Therefore, accepting this moment allows us to be more present, conscious, and mindful. In addition, it allows us to flow with the rhythm of life, which will allow the next steps to unfold. Sometimes, we do not have any other choice, but to go through specific challenges, and accepting our current position would help ease us into the flow of life.
Trust in the Universe
Although situations may seem a bit difficult and you may feel alone, please know that the Universe has your back. You are supported by a higher divine and it is important to trust that all is well. Take a moment to express gratitude for all the goodness in your life and trust that you are supported and loved. When we allow our negative thoughts to determine our responses, we are not trusting the Universe, but instead, we are leaning on our ego’s mindset, which does not reflect the true intentions. A great resource to help with trusting in the Universe is Abraham-Hicks. Throughout my challenges, I realized that I needed to change my mindset, and Abraham-Hicks has helped with creating good feeling thoughts and trusting that all is well.
Respond with Love
This specific suggestion has seriously changed my life. One evening, I was listening to Anita Moorjani’s radio show on Hay House Radio, and she said something that really stood out to me. She mentioned,”When you feel fear, ask yourself, “How can I better love myself? Where can I better love myself more?” Fear cannot exist where there is love.” When I heard her message, I seriously thanked the Universe for sharing such an important tool to dismantle fear, specifically my fear of change. Self-love can help with releasing resistance, fear, and worries. By responding with love, we are able to let go and walk to the flow of life in confidence and with love.
Thank you for reading my blog post and I hope you have found it helpful. As you are internalizing this post, please think about ways to implement it in your daily life. How do you plan on releasing resistance and walk to the flow of life? I look forward to reading your thoughts.
In Euphoric Love and Gratitude,
